TRANSSTROY VARNA AD
was established in 1904 as a state construction company for the construction of the transport infrastructure of the region.
The first site assigned to the company was the Port of Varna. Construction began with the construction of the breakwater in the period 1904 - 1906, behind which the Varna port itself was subsequently built.
Then, over the years, the construction of the Varna Shipyard followed; participation in the construction of the Varna - Sofia railway line; the Ship Repair Plant; the building of the Naval School.
After 1950, the company has implemented projects in all types of transport infrastructure:
Maritime - Varna sea station; Varna Thermal Power Plant port; Varna-West port; Varna-Ilychovsk ferry complex
Air - Varna airport
Railway - doubling and electrification of the Varna - Sofia and Varna - Karnobat railway lines
Road transport - road transport enterprises in Varna and Provadia; anti-landslip and erosion protection of the coastline
Until 1990, the company has built projects not only on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, but also abroad:
Jordan - Aqaba port; first-class roads
Ukraine - Reni port
Iraq - Baghdad - Basra highway
After the changes that occurred in 1989, the company underwent a complete change. In 1992, the enterprise was separated as an EOOD with 100% state participation. In 1996, the company was transformed into a joint-stock company, and in 1997, it was privatized. In the years after the transition, the company built yacht ports in the resort "St. St. Constantine and Elena" and in the village of St. Vlas, carried out the strengthening of landslide zones along the Black Sea coastline - Nessebar, Trakata, Panorama, Pisatel, Kavarna; protection from abrasion and floods along the Danube River - Vidin, Dolni Tsibar, etc.
